Will the Duchess of Sussex return to acting after withdrawing from royal duties?
In a lengthy statement yesterday the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced their decision to step down as senior royals – and the question now on everyone’s lips is will Meghan go back to the small screen?
Shortly after returning from their six-week hiatus in Canada with their son, Archie, Prince Harry and Meghan sent shockwaves on Instagram after breaking the news of going independent.
But according to the Mirror, the 38-year-old Suits star definitely won’t be returning to the popular drama series as its final episode aired in September last year.
Despite earning £37 000 (then about R500 000) an episode for playing the role of Rachel Zane, alongside prominent actors such as Gabriel Macht and Patrick J Adams, Meghan decided to quit acting following her engagement in November 2017 to Prince Harry, Hello! Magazine reported.
While it remains unclear whether Meghan will reconsider her decision and return to acting following her announcement to step back as a senior family royal member and become financially independent, her Suits on-screen father played by actor Wendell Pierce once opened up about hoping to see her on the small screen again.
“The thing I’m very interested in is if she’ll ever get the opportunity to act again” he said at the time, Express UK reported.
“I shudder to think she’s not going to get that anymore.”
