After ending his isolation period, Prince Charles has released a video message about the "strange, frustrating and distressing experience" of contracting the coronavirus and how it can affect the older members of our society.

In the video, shared on the Clarence House Twitter account, the Prince of Wales said: "As we are all learning, this is a strange, frustrating and often distressing experience, when the presence of family and friends is no longer possible, and the normal structures of life are suddenly removed. At such an unprecedented and anxious time in all our lives, my wife and I are thinking particularly of all those who have lost their loved ones in such very difficult and abnormal circumstances, and those having to endure sickness, isolation and loneliness."

He went on to say, though people of all ages are being affected by the virus, he is particularly concerned about the elderly, mentioning his patronage, Age UK and Camilla’s, Silver Line.

He thanked NHS personnel and volunteers for doing what they can to help those in need during this difficult time before mentioning everyone in the essential services sector for going to work every day.

"None of us can say when this will end, but end it will," he said. "Until it does let us try and live with hope and with faith in ourselves and each other, look forward to better times to come."
