Cape Town - The second British royal wedding is here and onlookers the world over wait in eager anticipation to witness Princess Eugenie (28) and Jack Brooksbank’s (32) nuptials, set to take place at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle.

We take a look at how Jack, European manager of Casamigos Tequila, came to marry into the royal family.

Here is a timeline of their eight-year relationship.

2010

The pair were introduced by mutual friends at Verbier, a ski resort in Switzerland, and had an instant connection. Earlier this year Jack told the BBC that it was love at first sight. Eugenie was 20 at the time and Jack was 24.

2011

The two made their first ever appearance together in public at the Royal Ascot horse races, where they adorably wore matching hats. Since the princess doesn’t have royal duties, she’s allowed to bring a partner who isn’t a spouse to family events.

2013

After completing her honours degree in art at Newcastle University in 2012, Eugenie moved to New York to work as an auctions manager at online art auction house Paddle8, Metro writes. With Eugenie and Jack now in a long-distance relationship, it wasn’t long before rumours of a break-up surfaced. But Jack nipped the gossip in the bud. “We spend a lot of time on Skype. It’s great. We’re still very much together,” he told Daily Mail at the time.

2015

The princess moved back to London to be closer to her man. In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar she revealed that they’re homebodies who enjoy spending time together watching TV. “When I’m with Jack, we watch The Walking Dead, which we’re obsessed with,” she said.

2017

The couple were spotted at the wedding of Pippa Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge's sister, at St. Mark’s Church in Englefield, England. They’re also apparently big basketball fans and were pictured attending a game together in Brooklyn, New York.

2018

Jack proposed to his princess at the beginning of the year. Buckingham Palace formally confirmed their engagement on 22 January, “The Duke and Duchess of York are delighted to announce the engagement of Princess Eugenie to Mr Jack Brooksbank.”

In the couple’s first ever TV interview with the BBC, Jack said that he’d stuck with tradition and gone down on bended knee when asking for her hand. The two are getting hitched on Friday. Altogether 850 guests will be in attendance – making it a bigger wedding than that of Prince Harry and Meghan’s wedding on 19 May, Express writes. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex had 600 guests at their wedding.
