This princess who will one day become queen is about to join the military academy

Princess Elisabeth of Belgium is following in her father's footsteps in attending the Royal Military Academy in Brussels.

Elisabeth is next in line to the throne – her father is King Philippe of Belgium.

According to a statement shared by the Belgian Royal Palace on Twitter, the princess will start her training at the end of August at the school her father also attended from 1978 to 1981.

The academy trains officers in the four components of Belgian defence: Army, Air Force, Navy and Medical. Elisabeth will specifically study social and military sciences for one year, reports E! News.

Elisabeth recently completed her studies at UWC Atlantic College in Wales and received her International Baccalaureate. Other royals who attended the school include King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands and Princess Raiyah bint Al Hussein of Jordan.

Queen Elizabeth serves as president of the college with Queen Noor of Jordan. So too did Nelson Mandela, according to People.

The future queen turned 18 in October and made an impassioned speech on her birthday. "These 18 years have been filled with many rewarding moments that have made me the person I am today," she said. "[It is] a step that I take with great optimism. I realise that I still have a lot to learn. I will also focus on that in the coming years: trying to understand the world better — and helping to improve it, by giving the best of myself.

"The country can count on me."
