Cape Town - The day your ex announces he’s engaged to be married to someone else is never fun, no matter how long ago you called it quits.

Still, when he’s marrying one of the most beautiful woman in Hollywood… it’s gotta hurt.

One of Prince Harry's former flames shared a cryptic post on Instagram just one day after the announcement came that he was engaged to American actress Meghan Markle.

Cressida Bonas split from Harry in 2014 after two years of dating.

Cressida (28), an English actress and model, began dating the royal in 2012 after the pair were introduced by Harry’s cousin, Princess Eugenie.

According to Daily Star, the couple was believed to be the real deal, with Harry being expected to pop the question to the free-spirited blonde.

But it never happened and the two ended up calling it quits in April 2014, saying they remained “the best of friends”.

However, on Tuesday – just 24 hours after Harry announced he had proposed to Meghan – Cressida sent out the mysterious message on Instagram.

She shared an image of two people on swings reaching out to each other, captioning it: “Truth #quotestoliveby”

The picture said: "No matter how educated, talented, rich or cool you believe you are, how you treat people ultimately tells it all."

According to The Sun, Cressida is known to be one of Harry’s few long-term relationships.  A year after their break-up, there was speculation the pair were back together but it was never confirmed.

And now the smitten prince is set to be off the market for good. Harry got down on one knee a month ago while he and Meghan were cooking a roast chicken in Nottingham Cottage in Kensington Palace.

The bride- and groom-to-be will say their vows in May at Windsor Castle.
