Prince Charles and Camilla’s royal tour cancelled amid coronavirus scare

Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, have officially cancelled their tour of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the Republic of Cyprus and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

The upcoming tour was announced in February was set to take place from 17 to 25 March, now, with the coronavirus rapidly spreading worldwide, Clarence House has released a statement postponing what would’ve been a big and important tour for Charles and Camilla.

"Owing to the unfolding situation with the coronavirus pandemic, the British government has asked Their Royal Highnesses to postpone their spring tour to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cyprus and Jordan."

ITV News royal editor, Chris Ship confirmed the news and clarified that the cancellation is due to "travel concerns" and "not because "Prince Charles and Camilla have any health issues".

As it stands, over 132 000 people have tested positive for the coronavirus, while over 5 000 have died. In the UK at present, 593 have the Covid-19 virus, while there are 24 verified cases in South Africa.
