No surprises who Prince Harry wants as his best man…
Cape Town - It’s going to be a family affair!
Prince Harry has reportedly asked his brother Prince William to be his best man in his upcoming wedding to actress Meghan Markle.
This is according to an unnamed source, who revealed the news to Us Weekly.
“Harry has several close guy friends, but there’s no way he would ask anyone but William to take on the top job,” the source told Us Weekly.
Harry (33) and Meghan (36) are as set to tie the knot at St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle in May 2018.
According to E! News, traditionally there isn't a "best man" at a royal wedding but the grooms have ‘supporters’.
Prince Charles asked brothers Prince Andrew and Prince Edward to be his supporters when he married Princess Diana in 1981, reports hellomagazine.com.
However, Prince William (35) broke this tradition when he had Harry as his best man when he married Kate in 2011. Kate's sister Pippa Middleton served as maid of honour.
William spoke about his brother’s engagement last month during a visit to Finland, saying that he is excited for the couple.
“And for me personally, I hope it means he stays out of my fridge and will stop scrounging my food, which he’s done for the last few years,” the second-in-line to the throne said in an interview.
Another source told E! News the Duchess of Cambridge (35) will not have a role in the nuptials, because the soon-to-be mom of three will have her hands full with the children.
But even though their mamma won’t have a role in the wedding, her blue-blooded brood will be involved.
Prince George (4) and Princess Charlotte (2) will play as-yet unknown roles in the upcoming nuptials. The little heirs to the throne were flower girl and ring bearer at their Auntie Pippa’s wedding earlier this year.
