Cape Town - Endless royal engagements and photo-ops are not all that Meghan Markle will be subjected to in the next few months.

The actress (36) reportedly needs to undergo tough security training before she can marry Prince Harry (33).

According to Quartz each senior member of the royal family needs to complete this rigorous training, to prepare them for all the possible safety challenges a royal may face.

It will involve a series of terrifying exercises, including a kidnapping scenario. Meghan will need to experience firsthand what it feels like to be held hostage, an expert told The Independent.

“If you can imagine her being put into a room, being treated as if she was a hostage, the room being stormed by the SAS [Special Air Service], she will be put through that training,” former royal aide and CEO of bodyguard firm Intelligent Protection International, Alex Bomberg said.

In 2011 the Duchess of Cambridge needed to do the same when she married Prince William. And in 1983, it ended traumatically for Princess Diana when a shock grenade set her hair alight, reports The Mirror.

Meghan also won’t be able to come and go as freely as she used to. Each appointment, even a haircut, will need to be arranged long in advance so that security personnel can investigate and secure each location.

“Her life now will be more of a regime,” Bomberg said.
