Meghan and Harry plan on keeping Archie’s godparents a secret until the christening but here are six potential contenders
Cape Town - The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are tight-lipped about the identity of baby Archie’s soon-to-be godparents – but that hasn’t stopped the rumour mill from going into overdrive.
The royal couple did, however, reveal details about Archie’s christening which will take place in a private ceremony on Saturday, Sun UK reports.
“Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor will be christened in a small private ceremony by the Archbishop of Canterbury in the Private Chapel at Windsor Castle on Saturday 6 July,” a statement released by Buckingham Palace read.
“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex look forward to sharing some images taken on the day by photographer Chris Allerton.”
Prince Charles and his wife, Camilla, along with Harry's brother, William, and his wife, Kate, are expected to attend the highly anticipated ceremony, Mirror UK reports.
Queen Elizabeth will miss the event due to prior commitments.
Despite Harry and Meghan’s wish to keep the identity of Archie’s godparents private, here are a few potential contenders we think might get the nod:
1. George and Amal Clooney
Hollywood star George Clooney and his wife, Amal, are close pals of the duke and duchess. The pair attended Harry and Meghan’s wedding in May last year.
2. Oprah Winfrey
The TV mogul is one of Meghan’s biggest supporters and is thought to be in the running for becoming Baby Sussex’s godmother.
3. Jessica Mulroney
The Canadian fashion stylist is Meghan’s best friend so it’s no wonder people are speculating that the mother of three could make the cut.
4. Benita Litt
Meghan’s pal Benita could also get the nod as her daughters were bridesmaids at the royal wedding.
5. Mark Dyer
The former Welsh Guards officer is close to Harry and supported him and William after their mother’s death in 1997. Dyer’s son Jasper is Harry’s godson.
6. Misha Nonoo
The American-based fashion designer is responsible for arranging that first blind date between Harry and Meghan in London. The public think she has a strong chance of playing a major role in baby Archie’s life.
