Harry and Meghan officially stepped down as senior members of the royal family on Tuesday – and one day later, they'd already activated their out-of-office reply.

Email them and you'll get the automatic response: "Many thanks for your email. The office for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex has now closed."

Having left the royal firm, statements on behalf of the duke and duchess will no longer come from Buckingham Palace – they closed their office at the palace on Tuesday evening, and their staff was either let go or relocated within the royal household. "No other royal communications representatives act on behalf of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, including palace spokespeople, household representatives nor royal sources," a statement read on Monday, reports People.

Going forward, the couple will be represented by well-known Hollywood PR agency, Sunshine Sachs.

Though their charitable organisation is still in the works – and sources say we'll hear more about that very soon – Harry and Meghan have been putting things in place for quite some time now. Meghan removed her HRH and "royal" titles from the Smart Works website recently as the couple may no longer use them, and their Sussex Royal Instagram account was closed on Monday.

A subtle cue, but a cue nonetheless, came in the way the once-royal couple said goodbye to their 11.3 million followers.

"Thank you to this community - for the support, the inspiration and the shared commitment to the good in the world. We look forward to reconnecting with you soon. You've been great!" they said. "Until then, please take good care of yourselves, and of one another."

No "HRH", no "Prince", they signed off, "Harry and Meghan."
