Cape Town – We can't imagine why anyone would poke fun at little Prince George.
Good Morning America host, Lara Spencer received backlash when she reported on Prince George's new curriculum once he heads back to school this September.
"In addition to the usual first or second-grade things like maths, science and history, the future King of England will be putting down the play-dough to take on religious studies, computer programming, poetry and ballet, among other things," she said, according to E! News.
Holding back her laughter, she added, "Prince William says George absolutely loves ballet. I have news for Prince William – we'll see how long that lasts."
Many felt the talk show host's comments were insensitive, adding to the stigma that already sees boys getting bullied for doing what they love. One user – a dancer himself – tweeted, "Boys in dance suffer from extensive bullying because of comments like the ones made here. You have no idea how strong, intelligent, and gifted male dancers are. You couldn't walk a mile in our shoes.
"You owe male dancers an apology," he said, tagging Lara.
@GMA and @LaraSpencer you owe male dancers an apology. Boys in dance suffer from extensive bullying because of comments like the ones made here. You have no idea how strong, intelligent, & gifted male dancers are. You couldn’t walk a mile in our shoes https://t.co/F9aM561yU5

Lara took to Instagram on Friday, apologising for her "insensitive comment". "My sincere apologies," she said. "From ballet to anything one wants to explore in life, I say GO FOR IT. I fully believe we should all be free to pursue our passions."
Prince William put it perfectly though when he first revealed his son's special talent.
While visiting BBC's Teen Heroes event last year, Prince William revealed 6-year-old Prince George likely inherited his love for Dance from his late grandmother, Princess Diana. "My mother always used to dance," he said. "She loved dancing."
Talking to a 14-year-old boy at the event with similar interests, he then said, "If it's something you love, you do what you love. Don't let anyone else tell you otherwise."
