Cape Town - Duchess Meghan has nifty nickname for her husband Prince Harry.
In an interview for the royal couple’s African documentary, the 38-year-old opened up about the difficulties of being in the spotlight as a new royal and how Prince Harry, who she affectionately called "H", has continuously supported her, The Sun reported.
The Harry and Meghan: An African Journey documentary, which was screened on ITV, showcases the-behind-the scenes of the couple's recent royal tour and Meghan also opened up to interviewer Tom Bradby about her life as a wife and first-time mom.
During her interview with the British journalist, the duchess spoke candidly about how she’s dealt with the harsh scrutiny of the British press, which her husband has since filed multiple lawsuits against.
"In all honesty, I have said for a long time to H – that is what I call him – it’s not enough to just survive something, that's not the point of life," Meghan revealed.
"You have got to thrive. You have got to feel happy, and I think I really tried to adopt this British sensibility of a stiff upper lip."
According to Hello Magazine, this isn’t the first time Meghan publically has let slip the pet name she uses for her beau.
In 2018, while posing for a photograph with the cast of the Hamilton musical, the former actress accidentally said “my love” when asking Prince Harry if she was in his shot.
"Can you see my love," Meghan said, before realising her mistake as Prince Harry blushed.
Despite the ongoing media onslaught the new mother has had to endure, she revealed how she was warned by her British friends not to marry Harry, Metro reported
"My British friends said to me, 'I’m sure he’s great but you shouldn’t do it because the British tabloids will destroy your life' " she said.
While Meghan admitted to trying to shake off the negativity and mounting criticism the couple gets in the British press, she conceded that it’s often caused lasting damaging.
"I tried, I really tried," she said. "But I think what that does internally is probably really damaging. And the biggest thing that I know is that I never thought this would be easy but I thought it would be fair, and that’s the part that’s hard to reconcile but [I] just take each day as it comes."
