Prince Charles has tested positive for the coronavirus.

'MILD SYMPTOMS'

The Prince of Wales' office released a statement on Wednesday saying, "He has been displaying mild symptoms but otherwise remains in good health and has been working from home throughout the last few days as usual."

Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, has also been tested, and Clarence House confirmed that she did not contract the Covid-19 virus.

Both Charles and Camilla are self-isolating at their home in Scotland, according to ITV News royal editor, Chris Ship.

The statement continued, "It is not possible to ascertain from whom the Prince caught the virus owing to the high number of engagements he carried out in his public role during recent weeks."

Charles isn't the first royal to have gotten the virus. Prince Albert of Monaco revealed last week that he too has tested positive – and both royals attended the Wateraid charity event in London on 10 March, reports People.

The event was also attended by other notable figures and celebrities, including Piers Brosnan.

THE QUEEN'S STATEMENT

Buckingham Palace also released a statement following the news saying, "The queen remains in good health. The queen last saw The Prince of Wales briefly on the morning of 12 March and is following all the appropriate advice with regard to her welfare.

"We will not be commenting further."

The queen's statement comes after she said last week that the royal family is taking every precaution to curb the spread of the virus and flatten the curve.

"Many of us will need to find new ways of staying in touch with each other and making sure that loved ones are safe. I am certain we are up to that challenge. You can be assured that my family and I stand ready to play our part," the statement read.

The queen is currently staying at Windsor castle with Prince Philip, while Prince William and Kate Middleton are with their children at their home in Norfolk.

Harry, Meghan and Archie are heeding government advice and staying indoors at their new home in Canada.
