Will Smith inspires from the Cayman Islands: Here’s three things we learnt

Cape Town - Currently in the Cayman Islands for work, Will Smith seems to be having one hell of a time.

On Saturday, he shared a video of himself getting his groove on, playing with the Cayman Islands’ Pandemix steel drum band.

Since, he has had some down time, and with Will being the workaholic we all know and love - it was hard for him to enjoy the peace.

Taking to Instagram Stories on Sunday, he shared some sound advice with fans after some introspection.

Here’s what we learnt:

1. We are addicted to disruption.

Will realised that we seek disruption in our lives when he was chilling in his hotel room.

“I’m in the room, I’m finally by myself, it’s quiet, there’s no people around… I’m chilling.” Says the Bright star.

“I figured let me go turn the news on, and then it dawned on me…news agitates me?” He says. “It’s disruptive, I get aggrivated. And I was like, nah. And then I felt this crazy urge that I couldn’t stop myself from going to turn the news on.

“I was like Oh sh*t and I realised, my mind was seeking disturbance. Like nah, it’s too peaceful, I need to be distruptive and aggravated.”

2. We need to choose to avoid arguments.

“I realised, we actually have to cultivate a taste for peace.” Will says. “We are addicted to things that agitate and aggravate us, you know.”

Will spoke on the subject that, as humans, we are susceptible to welcoming arguments in our daily lives.

“Damn everytime I see this person we argue,” he says hypothetically.

“I don’t wanna argue with this fool.

“Well, stop. What happens is we actually get addiced to the argument, addicted to the agitation, addictied to the aggravation.”

3.     Peace doesn’t come naturally

We thrive on drama after all, it seems. And according to Will, peace takes concerted effort.

“I just really made a decision with myself today just sitting in the Cayman Islands, that I’m going to be quiet, I’m going to be still, and I’m going to be alone.” he says. “So, just for today let’s be quiet, be still, be alone.”

“Right after you listen to my IG story and right after you follow me,” he jokes, “Stop arguing. Be alone, quiet, be still, y’all!”
