WATCH: Kate Upton takes a nasty fall during SI Swimsuit shoot

Cape Town – Kate Upton, a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit history maker, took a nasty fall while shooting the 2018 edition.

Following the release of the annual issue’s cover - which sees stunning newcomer Danielle Herrington make history as the third black woman on the cover -  the magazine shared some behind-the-scenes footage.

One of the videos is of poor Kate being washed away by a massive wave while posing topless for a sexy snap.

In the video Kate can be heard explaining the incident saying: “On the next wave coming, it didn't look that large from my point of view, but it must have hit the rock just right.”

Kate adds that after the wave hit her, the skirt she was wearing dragged her down because of how heavy it was wet.

Kate, 25, later told SI Swimsuit that she was keen for the shot but felt like it was not going to end well.

“I really saw the vision for the photo, but as I climbed on the rock, I did look down and was like, 'this is going to end badly.

“I felt like I was laughing in the face of death.”

Never-the-less, Kate made it out just fine after staff working on the shoot ran to her rescue.
