Cape Town - 2017 has been a heck of a year. And why grapple for the words to describe this year’s rollercoaster of emotions when there’s the perfect GIF to convey your sentiments.
According to CNN, the people behind Tenor - the top GIF-sharing app on iOS and Android - searched billions of GIFs across the social media-verse to find 2017’s most used one.
And the winner is…
1. The confused blinking guy
This GIF captures questionable moments perfectly – which is why it’s no surprise that it landed the top spot in a year jam-packed with a series of questionable events (*cough* Trump).
The man depicted in the GIF is American video podcaster, Drew Scanlon, who was filmed blinking in absolute bewilderment on an episode of Unprofessional Fridays, which was filmed back in 2013, reports The Guardian.
If this GIF doesn’t do it for you, here are a few more that people couldn’t get enough of on Tenor in 2017
2. The crying baby
3. Excited Jonah Hill
4. Crying Dre from TV series Blackish
5. A laughing little Shirley Temple
6. Millhouse from The Simpsons’ flirty eyebrows
7. Shaquille O’Neal laughing on the American sports show SB Nation
8. Boy crying a single tear
9. Michael Scott from The Office laughing
10. Barack Obama saying ‘Oh yeah’
