Cape Town - Queen of pop Madonna had her fans doing a double-take last week when she shared a glamorous selfie on her Instagram.

The reason? In the photo the mom of six seems to have virtually turned back the clock all the way to her youth.

“The only place a queen can hide is in the bathroom!” the music icon, who’ll celebrate her 60th birthday in August, captioned the bathroom selfie.

In the flattering shot – in which she clearly used filters – her skin is flawless and there’s not a wrinkle in sight.

Her fans couldn’t get enough of the selfie. “Your skin is lovely,” one wrote. “Those cheekbones are working overtime, give them a break for a day lady. #perfectface,” another of Madonna’s 10.8 million Instagram fans commented.

Just hours later however paparazzi snapped Madonna as she left a party in New York. With sunglasses covering her face, she tried to hide from the flashing cameras but not before shots were snapped of the “real” Madge – without any filters.

But the Material Girl singer still managed to look years younger than her 59, The Mirror reported.

Madonna launched her own skin care range, MDNA, in 2014. It includes a chrome clay mask which bloggers raved about when the range was launced, Hello! reports.

She reportedly also experiments with unusual beauty routines in an effort to mantain her youthful look.

Earlier this year she shared a playful video on Instagram in which she reveals she uses forks as part of her beauty routine. Yes, her face gets massaged with forks.

And Madge exercises five times a day, her personal trainer Stacey Griffith has let slip. The singer, who until 2010 ran her own chain of gyms called Hardy Candy, apparently does everything from yoga to boxing and weight training.

But not everyone’s convinced her youthful appearance can be attributed only to exercising and skincare products.

It’s often been claimed that the star has gone under the knife – something she denies.

“I am what I am. I don’t like the idea of someone putting you to sleep then taking knives to you,” she’s said.

Whatever her beauty seceret is, it's working!
