Cape Town – There is a reason Desmond Napoles, aka Desmond is Amazing, is making headlines – he’s a 10-year-old self-proclaimed drag kid paving the way for LGBTQIA youth.
The youngster was born in June 2007, during NYC Pride Week, at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Manhattan and, according to his website, says he “came out of the closet when he was born.”
At just 10 years old, Desmond is “a performer, drag kid, awarded LGBTQIA advocate, outspoken gay youth, editorial model, public speaker, founder of his own drag house, fashion designer, muse, and icon.”
And how does he manage all of this? With the support of his loving family and all his fans, who he calls “Amazies,” of course.
While Desmond may slowly be taking over the world, inspiring and representing hope for the future to come, the young influencer found time to live out one of his dreams - turning heads at New York Fashion Week.
Self-described as “a drag kid, dragutante, dragketeer, and draganista doing what I like to call kinderdrag,” Desmond totally walked the walk at Rio Uribe’s Gypsy Sport show.
Wearing a heap of confidence Desmond completely stole the show, much like he did at the 2015 Pride Parade when he danced like no one was watching in a rainbow tutu.
With all a number LGBTQIA youth advocacy projects on the go and planned for the future and his rising stardom on the runway, we’re sure this isn’t the last we’ve seen on Desmond.
