Legendary country music singer Kenny Rogers has died.

He was 81.

A family representative said he "passed away peacefully at home from natural causes".

In their statement, his family said he "left an indelible mark on the history of American music".

Though he has been most successful with country audiences, Rogers charted more than 120 hit singles across various music genres and was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2013.

He won three Grammy awards.

According to Variety due to the  national COVID-19 emergency, the family is planning a small private service at this time with a public memorial planned for a later date.
