Cape Town – Jeremy Renner and his ex-wife Sonni Pacheco are going through a nasty custody battle.
The Hawkeye star married the Canadian actress in 2014, but just shy of two years the couple got divorced in December of 2015. They share six-year-old daughter, Ava, but their ongoing battle for custody just turned ugly.
According to TMZ, Sonni is claiming the 48-year-old abused drugs and alcohol and threatened to kill her.
Legal documents obtained by the celebrity news outlet unpack the allegations in detail including claims of violence and substance abuse problem.
Jeremy has responded to the allegations with legal documents of his own claiming Sonni's accusations are part of a ruthless campaign to get money out of the actor.
He also claims he's submitted to drug tests – all of which came back negative – and has had a mental health specialist monitor his visits with Ava to prove he is capable of taking care of their daughter.
A rep for the actor has also released a statement to E! News saying, "The well-being of his daughter Ava has always been and continues to be the primary focus for Jeremy. This is a matter for the court to decide. It's important to note the dramatizations made in Sonni's declaration are a one-sided account made with a specific goal in mind."
According to People, the couple is to attend child custody mediation, and a court hearing is set for 7 November.
