Idris Elba tested positive for Covid-19 on 16 March and just a couple of days later his wife Sabrina contracted it too.

But the pair are now well on their way to recovery.

Taking to his Twitter account, the Pacific Rim actor shared an update with his fans in which he revealed that he and his wife were given the all-clear.

"We’ve passed the quarantine period but we’re stuck in limbo," he explained after being quarantined in New Mexico, where he was filming the latest instalment of his Netflix series.

"We can’t get a flight back home, so we just have to sit still for a little bit, but other than that we’re okay and we’re so thankful that the worst of this has probably passed."

In addition to this, the 47-year-old British actor, also known for his portrayal of Nelson Mandela, revealed the couple were struggling a bit to remain indoors because they weren’t accustomed to it.

"It’s weird because I never sit still, Sabrina never sits still either. I think she’s finding it harder, she’s getting cabin fever," he said.

However, they’re in good spirits. "We’re both good, mentally just trying to stay optimistic," he said.

Idris went on to advise his followers to take care of themselves, "I hope you guys are... keeping yourselves, you know, sane and not getting worried or too panicked."

To which he added, "Take it from me man, I thought I was going to see the worst of it as an asthmatic but thankfully I came through and you can too."

The couple were in quarantine together after the Hollywood star reportedly came into contact with Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau’s wife, Sofie, who had tested positive.

They met on 4 March at the We Day charity event in the UK.
