Chris Pratt commits to 21-day diet inspired by the Bible
Cape Town – Chris Pratt is kicking off the new year with a new commitment and is keeping his fans clued in, every step of the way.
The Guardians of the Galaxy actor has committed himself to the Daniel Fast which, according to their website, is “based on the fasting experiences of the Old Testament Prophet. It’s a partial fast where some foods are eaten while others are restricted.”
In simpler terms, the fast is based on the book of Daniel found in the Old Testament of the Bible.
Daniel 10: 1-3 reads: “In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia, a revelation was given to Daniel (who was called Belteshazzar). Its message was true and it concerned a great war. The understanding of the message came to him in a vision. At that time I, Daniel, mourned for three weeks. I ate no choice food; no meat or wine touched my lips; and I used no lotions at all until the three weeks were over.”
According to E! News, Chris gave his fans an update via Instagram Stories on Wednesday about his journey so far.
“OK, hi, Chris Pratt here. Day three of the Daniel Fast, check it out, it's 21 days of prayer and fasting,” he says in a video. “And it’s going to coincide also coincidentally with the Lego Movie 2 junkets, so by the time you see me, I’ll probably be hallucinating. Stay tuned.”

So, how does the Daniel Fast work?
Set up by bestselling author and founder of Faith Driven Life, Susan Gregory, the Daniel Fast offers a meal plan as well as different programs to help individuals “discover the insights, blessings, lessons and experiences God has to offer”.
The ‘New Year Fast’ began “at sunrise on Sunday, 6 January and completes at sunset on Saturday, 26 January”. However, those interested can “enter into a 21-day period of extended prayer and fasting” at any time.
According to the food guidelines, water is the only beverage that can be consumed and only foods grown from a seed can be eaten.
