Cape Town – After Amanda Bynes fled a sober living facility last week, family members close to the Fashion Institute student expressed concern, worried she might be in trouble.
After a series of tweets brought on by her struggle with substance abuse, the She's The Man star had a very public meltdown in 2014. Since then, however, she enrolled and reportedly graduated from the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising and moved into a sober living facility.
Now, a source has revealed to E! News that the 33-year-old "fled" the facility and actually "dropped out of the FIDM bachelor degree program [and] is not working".
"She has access to her money so she's financially independent," they added, but reassured she's "not doing drugs again" though her sobriety is "always the concern". As a result, the star appeared in court on Thursday with her parents.
"She may not go back [to the facility], but again, she's not doing drugs and mentally and physically she's okay. She does not have to go back but it's unclear what's going to happen," the source said, adding that if things do take a turn she is "open to getting helping".
Amanda last posted on Instagram a week ago, sharing a photo of her new turquoise-dyed hair.
