Manchester City moved back to within a point of Premier League leaders Arsenal with a 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest on Sunday evening.

Venue: City Ground

City coach Jack Guardiola made two changes from the win over Brighton and Hove Albion, as Jeremy Doku coming in for Phil Foden who missed out through injury while Jack Grealish replaced Mateo Kovavic.

The visitors looked to get an early goal as Kevin de Bruyne cut inside before unleashing a low strike that forced Forest goalkeeper into a fine save on 13 minutes.

Forest, meanwhile, were quite happy to sit back and soak up the pressure while using the pace Anthony Elanga and Callum Hudson-Odoi on the counter attack.

However, the Guardiola's men broke the deadlock in the 32nd minute when defender Josko Gvardiol got ahead of his marker and nodded home De Bruyne's corner at the near post.

The home side should have been level seven minutes before the halftime break when Hudson-Odoi pulled the ball back for an un-marked Chris Woods, who failed to get the proper connection and skewed his effort wide.

Guardiola was forced to make a change at the start of the second half, as goalkeeper Ederson was unable to continue after earlier knock and was replaced by Stefan Ortega.

The home side were a lot more livelier in the second half as they went in search of the equaliser, but the City defence remained water-tight and thwarted a number of attacks in the opening 15 minutes.

Guardiola eventually introduced Haaland after the hour mark and he went on to double their lead in the 70th minute after collecting a pass from De Bruyne before carving out space and firing into the far corner.

That goal was enough to seal the win for the Citizens, who sit one point behind Arsenal with a game in hand.
