Requesting his passport every time he needs to travel is now becoming an issue for the Moja Love presenter. 

The Uyajola 99 host Molemo “Jub Jub” Maarohanye on Tuesday briefly appeared at the Johannesburg Magistrate Court on allegations of attempted murder and assault this is after he handed himself over to the police in July. Three complainants have laid charges for rape incidents that allegedly happened from 2006 to 2009. 

He arrived in court in all black, accompanied by his usual entourage and his uncles. The matter was sitting in front of Magistrate Betty Khumalo.

The media personality is facing 13 criminal charges including rape, indecent assault, kidnapping, and assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm, arrived with his family who are adamant the rapper is innocent.

His legal representative, Advocate Terrence Baloyi, told the court that they would like to make an applicate an application for relaxation of his client’s bail condition. 

“We have made the application, and we can return to court on Thursday for the outcome of the relaxation of bail conditions.”

The most highlighted condition was travelling outside of the country. Jub Jub must go to court every time he has to travel to request his passport. It was stated by his legal team that due to the nature of his job, he is required to travel a lot. 

Magistrate Khumalo remanded the matter for the purposes of the Ndikhokhele hitmaker’s bail conditions to be relaxed. 

“However, I am reserving 13 June for the outcome of the Director of Public Prosecutions."

In February, Advocate Baloyi stated the reason he stood before the court was to confirm have, they received the particulars, but they were not satisfied.

However, he had a chat with state prosecutor Agnes Bezuidenhout, and she confirmed that there is nothing further that they can provide, so they had to work with what they had, says Baloyi.

“We have made a move by submission of facts. We have discussed that whatever the situation may be, we shall seek for postponement for submissions of representation to the DPP."

Jub Jub’s legal representative, Advocate Baloyi, confirmed that they received the particulars but were not happy with some of the details.

“The reason I stand before the court is to highlight on a previous occasion it was postponed today it was for the purposes of allocation. I have then received the particulars I will also place on record that it’s not satisfactory, but I had a chat with my learned friend and confirmed that there is nothing further that they can provide, so we have to work with what we have.”

“The state had the conversation with the defence, and we gave them all the information that we could give them," said Jub Jub's lawyer.

"They indicated to me that they want to postpone, the state is going to attend to that. The investigations were completed long ago; the annexure is in the docket because she [Bezuidenhout] is worried it might get lost. The annexures and the charge have been provided to the defence.”
