Cape Town – "I am alive and kicking in the Republic of South Africa. I stand to attention, but not for the president."
This is what popular comedian, filmmaker and singer, Leon Schuster, told Netwerk24 after a WhatsApp message made the rounds on Tuesday claiming he died in a car accident.
The message reads as follows: "Sad news guys. Car accident claims the life of a well-known celebrity. I can’t imagine a South Africa without Leon Schuster. He was one of the country’s best comedians. We will miss you. R.I.P Leon! Please share this…"
Schuster says it’s only sick people who would spread such stories.
He also expressed his concern over the fact that this type of message gets spread more and more these days.
"There is no truth whatsoever to this message. Don’t people realise we have loved ones. My 95-year-old mom will have a heart attack if she had to read this message," he told Netwerk24.
Schuster also joked that although a few people might want him dead, like with Trump, he’s still very much alive and kicking and healthy.
