Season 51 of Days of Our Lives gets the thumbs up

Johannesburg -  “Like sands through the hourglass…so are the days of our lives”.

Those iconic words have been playing on TV for 50 years and good news for soapie fans, the show will go on!

Despite rumours that Days Of Our Lives would be cancelled after its current 50th anniversary, the show’s just been renewed for a whopping 51st season!

Thanks to increased viewership during its current 50th year on TV, network NBC has given the inhabitants of Salem the thumbs up to be on air through to September 2017 (and a possible option until at least September 2018, for now).  

NBC president Jennifer Salke says that the network “is incredibly proud of the legacy of Days Of Our Lives and we couldn’t be more excited to brings its fans new stories for the 51st season. In a business where having a show remain on the air for two seasons is considered a success, what Days has achieved is extraordinary!”
