Nudity on Game of Thrones: Calls to free the penis!

Cape Town - Emilia Clarke, perhaps better known as the dragon taming warrior queen Daenerys Targaryen, recently observed in an interview with James Corden that there’s a lack of equality between male and female nudity on Game of Thrones.

In this episode of The Late Late Show with James Corden, Clarke said of Game of Thrones: "I feel like there’s a little bit of inequality between the amount of nudity that happens with women, this woman in particular, and what happens with the other guys."

Clarke herself has filmed a number of nude scenes in the first five seasons of the show. A shorter excerpt of the interview has been posted to YouTube.

She then went on to call for equality of nudity in the show, which since airing has shown 60 pairs of female breasts but only two fully nude men.

"You know, I think that should just be even," said Clarke. Corden takes this a step further and to the agreement of Clarke and her fellow interviewees, Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer both from the show Broad City, he suggests a new hashtag - #FreeTheP.

To date, episode one of the first season of Game of Thrones has contained the most nudity, followed by episode three of season five. The only episode with full male nudity is episode four of season five.

Lena Headey who plays Cersei Lannister, one of the most formidable characters in Game of Thrones, had her own controversial nude scene. Headey, also interviewed in a recent episode of Corden’s Late Late show, chose to use a body double for an extended 'walk of shame' in the season five finale that involved her character walking through crowded streets in no clothes as penance for a previous affair.

When asked how fans reacted to scene, Headey said: "People have been good, and slightly judgemental", she went on to say that "there have been some people who have criticised me for not being the naked bod". Headey was pregnant at the time the scene was filmed.

The Late Late Show and Game of Thrones Seasons 1-5 are available on ShowMax.
