Cuba Gooding Jr's father found dead in car

Cape Town – Cuba Gooding Jr’s father and singer, Cuba Gooding Sr has died. He was 72.

According to reports Gooding Sr was found dead in his car on Thursday in the San Fernando Valley.

Firefighters are said to have been the first on the scene and found the soul singer slouched over in his vehicle. The paramedics attempted CPR but could not resuscitate him.  

TMZ reports police found bottles of alcohol in the car and suspect his cause of death to be from a possible drug overdose.

Gooding Sr was the lead singer of 70s soul group The Main Ingredient, with the smash 1972 hit, Everybody Plays The Fool.
