5 things Ed Sheeran revealed since his comeback

Cape Town – Since making his much-anticipated comeback with the release of two new songs last week, Ed Sheeran has been out and about chatting about his return.

Since its release, his new songs, titled Castle On The Hill and Shape Of You, have smashed streaming records and it seems like everyone just can’t get enough of Ed!

Check out these 5 things Ed has revealed since making his comeback:

1) He basically saw the whole world on his break.

When he announced that he will be taking a break, Ed revealed that he will be travelling. So where did he go?

In an interview with BBC Radio 1 he revealed that he visited all the countries he had been to before but haven’t really seen. "I travelled like all of Japan, and saw all of that, and I went to Australia, New Zealand. I went to Ghana."

2) The first people who got to listen to his new tracks were the Game of Thrones cast.

Ed usually plays his new songs to people when he’s "pissed" and sometimes those people are "randoms". So of course he got to party with the Game of Thrones cast and played them some new songs…  "I ended up going to a party where I met the Game of Thrones lot and they all ended up at my house, and I never met some of them before, and I was like, 'do you wanna hear some new songs?'"

3) Shape Of You was originally meant to be a Rihanna song.

According to Ed he actually went in to the studio to write songs for other people with Johnny McDaid and Steve Mac. "We were writing this song, and I was like, ‘this would really work for Rihanna’, and then I started singing lyrics like ‘putting Van The Man on the jukebox’ and then I was like, she’s not really gonna sing that now is she?!  And then we sort of decided halfway through we were just gonna make it for me," Ed told BBC Radio 1.

4) He will be making an appearance on James Corden’s Carpool Karaoke this year.

Finally! In an interview with Capital FM, Ed exclusively revealed that he’s been in contact with James Corden for the last 3 years. "He wanted me to do the first one, but I just wasn’t around, and I can confirm that at some point this year I will be doing a Carpool Karaoke."

5) Justin Bieber’s big hit, Love Yourself, almost never existed.

While it is known that Ed co-wrote Justin Bieber’s big hit, Love Yourself, he recently revealed in an interview with 97.1 AMP Radio that he almost threw the song out completely, and that he originally wrote it for himself for his new album.

"That was a song I had written for Divide. It just wouldn’t have made it," he told Carson Daly. "Justin took it and did his thing on it, and released it as a single and made it what it is. ... I wouldn't say it was just all me."
