Cape Town - Daryne Joshua’s directorial debut, Noem My Skollie has just premiered at the Silwerskerm Festival.
Set on the Cape Flats and in Pollsmoor prison it is based on the life of scriptwriter John W. Fredericks.
It tells the story of four teenagers who grow up on the impoverished ganglands of Cape Flats in the 1960s. The friends decide to form a gang to protect themselves.
Years later two of them end up in jail and to survive, one uses his storytelling talent to entertain the other inmates.
