Cape Town – On 18 April Twitter user @1800SADGAL sent out a tweet that quickly went viral.
The tweet was a photo of Rihanna and Lupita Nyong’o sitting together at a Miu Miu fashion show with the caption: "Rihanna looks like she scams rich white men and lupita is the computer smart best friend that helps plan the scans.(sic)"
It wasn’t long before fans suggested different plot lines and asked Ava DuVernay and Issa Rae to join the imaginary project.
All four women said they would totally be keen to make a movie like that, Vulture reported.
Well, Netflix caught wind of the online buzz and, after a fierce bidding war, have landed the rights to actually make the flick a reality.
Well-played, Twitter. Well-played.
