FIRST LOOK: Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper in A Star is Born

Cape Town – After a failure to launch the A Star is Born remake is finally underway.

Lady Gaga will star alongside Bradley Cooper in the musical drama.

The pop star posted a first look picture of their characters on Instagram.

Alongside the photo she wrote: "I am so excited to star in my first movie alongside someone I'm so lucky to call my friend. I always wanted to be an actress on the big screen. The story of "A Star is Born" is so special and I'm so grateful to Bradley for making my dream come true. Can't wait for you to meet Ally. She has her first scene in 5."

The film centres on a fading movie star (Cooper) who helps an aspiring star (Gaga) find her feet in the world of fame whilst his own career spirals downwards.

This will also be Cooper's directorial debut.

After a number of failed attempts by Clint Eastwood to revive the script over the past few years the remake of the musical drama - which was previously made for screens in 1937, 1954, and 1976 - has been slated for a September 2018 release.

'Real-life' Coachella shoot

Fans can buy a ticket for $10 to be an extra at the film's Coachella shoot.

All proceeds will go to Lady Gaga's Born This Way foundation.

The shoot will happen on Tuesday, 18 and Wednesday, 19 April.

Here's a description from the AEG Festival Ticketing website.

"We are happy to have you join us for A Star is Born! Be in the audience as Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga films scenes on the actual Coachella stages. Help cheer and applaud their performances on camera. The scenes for these days will portray a Country Western music concert. All you Monsters that can attend should get decked out in your most comfortable denim & boots, throw on a Stetson (leave those pink Joanne hats at home) and come out to show your support!"
