WATCH: Kanye West's birthday message to Kim is the sweetest thing ever

Cape Town – Kim Kardashian West's birthday was a low key affair this year after her traumatic attack in Paris. 

Sources reported earlier this week that Kanye West cancelled plans for a lavish 1920s-themed party for his wife. 

The rapper instead reportedly gifted her with a one of kind pair of ruby Lorraine Schwarz drop earrings worth $50 000 and the sweetest birthday message ever. 

West posted an emotional birthday tribute to his wife on Twitter.

Set to his song, Only One the 5 minute clip is a montage of family home videos capturing childhood memories and never before seen footage of Kim and her famous family.

The rest of the family also took to social media to wish the reality star a happy 36th birthday.

Leading the tributes was momager Kris Jenner. 

She wrote: ''Happy Birthday to my precious Kimberly! @kimkardashian I love and adore you... you have brought so much joy into all of our lives and you are the most wonderful daughter, wife, sister, friend and mom. I thank God every day he blessed me with you and I cherish every single moment and memory. My heart is full of gratitude and I love you more than you will ever imagine or know... Mommy xo (sic).''

Her siblings followed suit with throwback pictures and gushing messages of love.
