Cape Town - "She’s spitting blood in my face, it raised me even more."
These are some of the chilling things Chris Brown recalls of the night he left Rihanna severely injured after an altercation in 2009.
The Don’t Judge Me singer gets candid about the infamous incident in his new documentary, Chris Brown: Welcome to My Life. Chris claims that over the course of his relationship with the Barbados-born songstress, they were both violent towards each other.
“I still love Rihanna, but I’m just going to be honest – we would fight each other, she would hit me, I would hit her, but it never was OK,” he says in the film.
“It was always a point to where we talk about it like, ‘What the f*** are we doing?’”
Their tumultuous relationship reached boiling point the night before the Grammys in 2009, when it emerged the rapper had severely beaten up his former girlfriend in his Lamborghini.
In the documentary, Chris reveals he and Rihanna were at a party that night, when one of his former lovers arrived. He said this sparked a major fight on the way home.
“She [Rihanna] starts going off, she throws the phone, ‘I hate you!’, whatever, whatever, she starts hitting me, we’re in a little Lamborghini, you know she’s fighting me,” he says in the clip.
“Like I remember she tried to kick me, just like her beating shit, but then I really hit her. With a closed fist, like I punched her, and it busted her lip, and when I saw it I was in shock, I was “f***, why did I hit her like that?”
“So from there she’s…spitting blood in my face, it raised me even more. It’s a real fight in the car, and we driving in the street.”
“She grabbed my n***. And when she did that, I bite her arm while I’m still trying to drive,” he admits. He also speaks about how he pushed her, leading to her head injury.

The father-of-one was later found guilty of felony assault and sentenced to five years of probation, one year of domestic violence counselling, and six months of community service.
Fans of the star were left outraged and his career came to a standstill for a year, before he made his comeback with his album F.A.M.E in 2010.
