Cape Town - In the past he’d probably be knocking back shooters with his lads on his birthday, but these days Prince Harry cuts a far more reserved figure – and word is he’s planning nothing more exciting than a slice of cake at Kensington Palace today for his 33rd birthday.

According to reports he already celebrated his special day with actress girlfriend Meghan Markle last weekend, when she flew out to London before returning to work in Toronto on her series Suits.

As he celebrates another year of growing older, Harry has certainly grown into a dashing young man his mother would be proud of. Let’s take a look back.

Here, three month old Prince Harry is held by his mother, Princess Diana at his christening on 21 December 1984. Older brother Prince William plays in front whilst Queen Elizabeth and relatives remain amused by the one-year- old.

Harry (then 22 months old) and his brother William (then four) get ready to go for a helicopter ride with their mother on 18 July 1986.

At the Trooping the Colour ceremony in 17 June 1989, a then eight-year-old Harry peeps over the Buckingham Palace balcony.

He’s always been a charmer!  Here the  eenage Prince blushes as he walks past cheering teenage girls in Vancouver on 24 March 1998.

He’s always loved sport and charity! On 15 June 2002, a 17-year-old Harry is seen with his father Prince Charles, after winning a polo match to raise funds for the Hellenic College- a Greek school based in London.

True patriot: at the age of 24, he patrols the deserted town of Gramisir, close to an operating base in Delhi, India.

His love for flying saw him become a defense pilot for Britain’s Army Air Corps – here a 25-year-old Harry poses with his instructor on 18 June 2009.

The day before his birthday, Harry was engaged in charity work, building shelters with Felstead Prep School for the The Chatham Green Project, a conservation and educational initiative in Essex, England.
